Edge of Tomorrow is science fiction movie starring Tom Cruis and Emily Blunt as soldiers who fight a war against aliens who try to invade Earth. Directed by Doug Liman, the story unfolds around Major William Cage (played by Cruise) when he is forced to join a squad force specializing on battling aliens.
The story takes a turn when Cage is caught in a time loop that sends him back to life. He wakes up again on the day before he dies. Rita Vrataski (Blunt) finds out about his situation and together, they relive the events on the time loop again and again. Cage then hones his fighting skills with every round on the time loop. They acquired this ability to live again from the aliens known as Mimics. Vrataski introduces Cage to Dr. Carter, an extraterrestrial expert who informs them that in order to permanently destroy the aliens, they must find their mastermind, the Omega. During the repeated battles, Cage still fails to locate the Omega. Because of this, Cage decides to go to London where he learns that the city is about to be attacked by Mimics. Through a vision, he discovers the location of the Omega. He goes to the place and Cage realizes that it is a trap. After leaving Vrataski to her death, he defeats the Omega’s by committing suicide before the Omega can prevent him from engaging in another time loop.
Another series of time loops save the lives of Cage and Vrataski. They also manage to acquire a device that pinpoints the location of the Omega in Paris. Coordination with the military in Paris provides the support needed by Cage and Vrataski in their final battle with the Omega. After Vrataski and a number of his comrades, Cage manages to slip an explosive on the alien’s body. Cage is caught in the explosion and dies floating on the remains of the alien.
The movie ends with Cage waking up in a vehicle on its way to his superior. It turns out that alien activities ceased after a sudden upsurge of energy in Paris. Cage goes to Heathrow where he meets again his former squad mates who do not recognize him. He also meet Vrataski who shows him the same deference she showed him during their first meeting.
