Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones starts ten years after the Trade Federation has invaded Naboo. Count Dooku threatens the current Galactic Republic. Senator Padme Amidala goes to Coruscant to offer her assistance to the republic in defeating the members of the Separatist movement. After being almost assassinated, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, are appointed to protect her. For the second time, a shape-shifter tries to assassinate Amidala but before Obi-Wan and Anakin can ask him who wanted to kill her, the assassin is killed by his bounty hunter client. Because of this, Obi-Wan is assigned to find the bounty hunter. Anakin on the other hand goes back to Naboo with Padme and there they start falling in love with each other.
As he tries to find the bounty hunter, Obi-Wan ends up in planet Kamino. There, he learns that army clones are being massed produced for the Republic. He also finds out that the bounty hunter that he’s looking for is no other than Jango Fett whose DNA is being used as genetic template for making the clones. Oba-Wan follows Jango and a clone that goes by the name Boba to planet Geonosis. At the same time, Anakin experiences a premonition showing his mother suffering from pain. Anakin and Amidala go to Tatooine to save Anakin’s mother, Shmi. In Tatooine, they meet Owen Lars. Owen is Anakin’s stepbrother and son of Shmi’s new husband Cliegg Lars. They learn that Anakin’s mother was abducted by Tuskan Raiders. Anakin hunts them down but comes just little too late before her mother dies. Anakin is outraged by his mother’s death and he massacres the Tusken campsite.
Obi-Wans uncovers that Count Dooki is the one who ordered Padme’s assassination and he is currently forming a new battle army with Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray. Obi-Wan is captured as he tries to pass to Anakin this information. Because of this information, Anakin is sent with Padme to Geonosis to liberate Obi-Wan but they are also caught by the enemies. Before they are sentenced to death, they are saved by the arrival of a Jedi army headed by Mace Windu. A battle commences and it is not long before they are outnumbered by the sheer number of droid soldiers. Fortunately, Yoda comes to the rescue. As Mace kills Jango, Obi-Wan and Anakin confronts Dooku. Dooku injures Obi-Wan and manages to cut off Anakin’s right arm. At that instant, Yoda arrives and fights with Count Dooku. Count Dooku escapes when he fails to defeat Yoda.
The movie ends with Count Dooku bringing a set of blueprints for a superweapon to Darth Sidious. The Clone Wars begins and Anakin secretly marries Padme.
